Voici les résultats de l'Avimarche pour les 20 premiers jours.

Hier 24 avril deux sorties à la baie Simard et aux rapides Deschênes. Grosse crue de la rivière, des nuages d'Hirondelles bicolores au-dessus, la colonie de l'île Conroy est densément occupée, avec un Grand Héron sur son nid, en plus des espèces habituelles. Et j'ai enfin pu voir les Bihoreaux gris, la première fois pour moi cette année. À l'extrémité du chemin Vanier, les gens du club ont installé un magnifique nichoir à Hirondelles noires, on verra ce que ça donnera cet été. Moi je parie que les Étourneaux sansonnets seront les premiers locataires.

Aujourd'hui au marais Lamoureux, j'ai de nouveau entendu le Râle de Virginie (pas vu), là où je l'avais observé le 22 avril l'année dernière! Sur place, j'ai aussi rencontré Jean-Serge Vincent, qui espérait le photographier... J'espère qu'il a réussi.

Bonjour à tous et à toutes. C'est déjà le dernier jour de l'Avimarche! Encore un petit effort malgré le temps maussade. Pour ma part je vais retourner à la baie Simard où j'ai entendu un tintement métallique tout à fait étrange et totalement inconnu de mes oreilles, j'espère trouver l'origine de ce drôle de cri.
Je n'ai pas vu beaucoup de récits de vos aventures et de vos découvertes sur ce forum, il n'est pas trop tard, on attend vos belles histoires! Et n'oubliez pas d'ajouter la mention Avimarche sur toutes vos listes eBird, et de transmettre vos résultats kilométriques à Gino qui saura nous présenter le tout sans tarder!

I finished the month with 60 species, which is pretty usual for April in my area. Most arriving species were here a few days later than in previous years, and a couple of the warbler species that I have seen in April before haven't arrived yet, hopefully the warm weather this weekend will help.

I keep a "green-list" year round, and interestingly, my total for the year is 62 - so there were only two species that I saw in Jan-March that I didn't see in April as well.

Highlights:
An unexpected Vesper Sparrow, which was new for my ongoing county list too. Seen exploring a puddle at the edge of a large lawn. There isn't much open grassland in my area, so not a species I thought I'd see locally.
Two palm warblers passing through my garden, with a small flock of yellow-rumped warblers. I often see them not far from home, but this was the first time in my own garden. (Species no 115 seen/heard from my garden in ~10 years. Always nice to add a new one).

Other highlights were regular species in the area, but nice encounters. The Cooper's hawks are back on their patch of woods, the broad winged hawks have been very vocal. The return of the loons on the lake is always a highlight of the year, and the buffleheads head-bobbing at each other too. It seems to have been a great spring for ruby crowned kinglets also, almost constant babbling song in the woodland some days.

Notable absences: No osprey yet, and I didn't catch up with any of the local pigeons or mourning doves either. There are reliable spots for both about ~4km walk away, but the rainy days meant I didn't make it that far very often.

I loved seeing the photos from those of you who made it to the meetup. Looked like a fun time.
